Bhubaneswar: An elderly man was tragically killed in an elephant attack in the Patarmal forest of Bagadihi Forest Range in Jharsuguda district. Hiralal Buda (60), a resident of Patarmal village, had gone to the forest yesterday afternoon with an axe and failed to return home.
The family searched the surrounding areas but couldn’t locate him. This morning, they found Buda’s mauled body inside the forest, suspected to have been attacked by a wild elephant.
Forest officials, including Bagdihi Forest Ranger Bandana Pasayat and Laikera Sub-Inspector Dilip Behera, reached the spot, seized the body, and sent it for autopsy. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
