Bhubaneswar: An elderly man was trampled to death by an elephant while on his way to attend nature’s call at the Hamirpur area Kishan Basti under Sector-19 police limits in Sundargarh district on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as 75-year-old Sudhu Badaik, a resident of Rourkela city.

As per reports, the elderly man was heading to the toilet in the wee hours of Tuesday. Due to thick fog, he could not see the elephant approaching towards him and died after being trampled to death.

Upon hearing Sudhu’s screams, local residents rushed to the scene and found him dead. They immediately contacted his family members and informed the forest department.

Meanwhile, the forest team arrived and began searching for the elephant.
