Kalahandi: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a 50-year-old man was killed in an elephant attack in Tebamohula villager under Rampur police limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Panchu Majhi (50).
According to reports, when Panchu was standing outside his house on Thursday evening, a wild elephant separated from its herd and wandered into Tebamohula village located inside a forest. Panchu suddenly came near the elephant and the animal trampled him to death.
Another person, Gajinder Jani of Jharband village in Chingsar panchayat of Junagadh block was killed in an elephant attack in the district.
It is worth mentioning here that the Forest Department staff is on strike since last Thursday and not taking part in patrolling duty in the forests.
