Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old woman lost her life and another person sustained critical injuries following an attack by a swarm of bees in Gokulpur village under Rahania panchayat in Mahanga block of Cuttack district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Pata Dei.
According to sources, she had gone to a nearby forest to collect firewood on Wednesday evening when she was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees. Although she was rushed to the Mahanga Community Health Centre (CHC), she succumbed to her injuries today morning.
Another villager, Birendra Das, also suffered serious injuries in the same incident and is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
Locals reported that similar bee attacks had occurred in the area in recent days, leaving several others injured. The repeated incidents have sparked concern among residents.
