Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission will issue a notification today for the Nuapada by-election, marking the beginning of the electoral process.
Following this, the nomination filing process will commence, and candidates will have until October 20 to submit their nominations.
According to sources, the scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 21 and candidates will have until October 23 to withdraw their nominations. After this, the final list of candidates will be announced. The polling date is set for November 11, and the results will be declared on November 14.
The prominent parties, including BJD, BJP, and Congress, are gearing up for the by-election. BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik will chair a meeting to decide on the candidate. Meanwhile, BJP is yet to announce its candidate, while Congress has already nominated Ghasiram Majhi.
The by-election in Nuapada is expected to be a closely contested one, with the major parties pulling out all stops to win the seat.
