Bhubaneswar: Indirect election for the posts of Chairman of all Panchayat Samitis in the State will be held on March 12 and for the posts of Vice-Chairman will be held on March 23.
Similarly, indirect election for the posts of Zilla Parishad President will be held on March 13, and for the posts of Zilla Parishad Vice-President will be held on March 25.
Electoral Officers appointed for the aforementioned posts will provide nomination papers and accept the same from the candidates on the scheduled dates from 10.30 AM to 11.30 AM and nomination papers will be scrutinized from 11.30 AM to 12.30 PM and candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations can do the same before 1 PM. Polling of votes will be held on the same day from 1.30 PM to 4 PM and later counting of votes will be done and then results will be announced.
Since indirect election will be held for the aforementioned posts, members participating in the election and officers engaged in the election process have been barred from moving out of the room by the State Election Commission (SEC).
The SEC has directed the SPs to make security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the elections.
