Baripada: A Vigilance Court here on Monday convicted the a former DGM (Electrical) Jasobanta Narayan Choudhury in connection with a bribery case. Choudhury, the ex-Deputy General Manager, Electrical, EHT (O&M) Division, Baripada is currently posted as DGM, Electrical, Bhubaneswar was facing trial in a Vigilance case of October, 2017.
The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada, hearing the Balasore Vigilance Case under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of Prevention of Corruption Act sentenced Choudhury to 3 years rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 15,000. The case pertained to demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs 3,000 to prepare the bill and update the log book of a rented vehicle.
“PK Samal, Ex-Inspector of Vigilance, Balasore Division had investigated the case and SK Ray, I/c Special Public Prosecutor (P.P.), Vigilance, Baripada conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution,” the Vigilance stated.
