Bhubaneswar: Concerned over the death of three persons in an elephant attack in Dhenkanal district, the Odisha government has decided to provide compensation to the families who lost their family members.
Forest Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia revealed this in a tweet, stating that strict action will also be taken against officials found negligent in their duties. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Singkhuntia has directed departmental officers to take necessary actions.
“Compensation will be provided by the state government to all the deceased who lost their lives in the elephant attack, and strict action will be taken against the officers who have been negligent in their duties. In this regard, following the instructions of the Honorable Chief Minister @MohanMOdisha, I have directed the departmental officers accordingly”, read the Minister’s tweet.
Taking to his X account, the Minister also expressed condolences over the death of three persons in the elephant attack.
He wrote: “I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear the news of the death of three people in an elephant attack in Baghadharia village, Rasol section, under the Hindol forest range of Dhenkanal district. I pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the salvation of the souls of all the deceased and express my condolences to the grieving families.”
In response to the unfortunate event in the Rasol section, the Dhenkanal Division’s Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) has suspended the Forest Guard-in-Charge and Forester with immediate effect. They have been attached to the Hindol Range pending disciplinary proceedings, which will be initiated upon receiving approval from higher authorities.
