Elephant Attacks Claim Two Lives In Dhenkanal And Keonjhar Districts

Dhenkanal: Two persons were trampled to deaths by wild elephants in two separate incidents in Dhenkanal and Keonjhar districts.

In the first incident, a woman named Charulata Nayak was killed by a wild elephant near Amlabereni village under Kamakhyanagar Block in Dhenkanal district. She was going to a nearby pond to attend nature’s call with two other women when the elephant attacked her. The other two women managed to escape.

Upon being informed, Forest department officials reached the scene and retrieved the body and assured to provide compensation from the government’s fund.

In the second incident, a 27-year-old man named Kalia Nayak was killed by a wild elephant in Keonjhar district’s Raikala village. He was attacked while going to attend nature’s call early in the morning.
