Phulbani: An elephant calf was rescued from a well after an effort of two hours by the staff members of Phiringia Range under Phulbani Forest Division of Kandhamal district on Thursday.
On getting information that an elephant calf has fallen into a well yesterday, around 15 forest personnel from Phiringia Range had rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation.
They dug a passage for the elephant calf with the help of a JCB machine following which it managed to come out of the well. It went to the forest safely along with a nearby herd of six elephants, informed Ranger Bijay Kumar Mallick.
