Bhubaneswar: An elephant fell into a pond and got separated from its herd at Kiding village in Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district on Sunday.
Reportedly, a herd of elephants had entered the village last night to feed on the crops. However, one of them fell into a pond and was not able to come out.
This morning, villagers found the elephant when they had gone to attend nature’s call. They immediately informed the officials of Biswanathpur Range.
Subsequently, a team from the forest department arrived and launched a successful rescue operation. A huge crowd gathered at the spot to watch the elephant.
