Sundargarh: An elderly woman was killed by a wild elephant while another person was injured at Kulba village under Ujalpur Forest Range in Sundargarh district on Thursday morning.
The woman and a man were going somewhere when they were attacked by the elephant. The incident occurred after the forest department personnel doing night patrolling in the area returned at dawn.
Reportedly, the elephant has been roaming in the nearby forest. While living in the forest during the day, it sneaks into the village at night.
This is the second such incident in a week. An elderly woman had been trampled to death by an elephant in the village on October 14.
