Bhubaneswar: A female elephant at Nandankanan zoo named Prema, died here on Friday. Aged around 66 years, Prema was found to be critically ill early this morning.
It had fallen unconscious while feeding on grass on Thursday and was immediately treated by a veterinarian. Deputy Director, Nandankanan, Chittaranjan Mishra said, the jumbo was suffering from old-age-related ailments.
She was not well since July. Prema also sustained an injury on its right leg and was being treated by a group of vets, he said.
