Cuttack: The ODRAF personnel who had gone missing yesterday, after a boat capsized during a mission to rescue an elephant stuck in Mahanandi river near Mundali in Cuttack, is still untraceable.
While one body was found by NDRF personnel near Naraj today morning, ODRAF authorities confirmed that it is not of the missing personnel Sitaram Murmu.
Reportedly, four ODRAF personnel and two journalists were on the boat when it capsized in the Mahanadi river yesterday afternoon. All others except Murmu had been rescued yesterday but one journalist, Arindam Das of Odisha Television (OTV) Limited, could not survive the mishap.
The elephant had not been rescued till yesterday evening. The rescue mission had been temporarily suspended as it was late and dark. The four ODRAF personnel and a video journalist rescued yesterday are presently undergoing treatment at the SCB MCH.
