Sambalpur: The elephant which was stranged in a muddy pond for three days was rescued today morning. The elephant had gone into the water body in Badasahi forest range to quench its thirst, got stuck in the pond. Despite repeated attempts, the tusker was unable to pull itself out.
Two teams, from Nandan Kanan and Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary carried out an operation which lasted for several hours. The elephant has scars and infections at multiple places on its body. A team from OUAT, Bhubaneswar was rushed to Sambalpur for treating the elephant.
