Keonjhar: An elderly man was trampled to death by an elephant in Deogaon region on Saturday. The incident took place in wee hours of the day, when Dusasan Jena of Narangpur village had gone to collect firewood.
According to reports, the tusker was moving in Nua Baripal reserve forest under Deogaon range of Anandpur subdivision. A group of persons collecting firewood ran back to safety while Jena fell down on the tusker’s path and was knocked out.
Locals protested the mishap and demanded compensation for the family of the deceased. The police have sent the body of the deceased for autopsy and registered a case in this connection.
