Angul: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, an elderly man was killed in an elephant attack in the Daturagarh forest range in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sambhunath Pradhan (62).

According to reports, Shambhunath had gone to the nearby forest this morning to get some leaves for fodder for his goats. Inside the forest, he encountered a stray wild elephant which trampled him to death.

As the news of the villager’s death spread, there was tension in the area. People are worried as elephant menace has been increasing in that area. Angul ACF Vidya Sagar has reached the village and is trying to pacify the people.

Till the time of writing this report, Sambhunath’s body is lying at the spot as the villagers have stopped the Forest department personnel from sending it for autopsy.
