Bhubaneswar: A man was trampled to death by an elephant at Madhupur village under the Bantala Range in Angul district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Kumuda Sahu (55).
According to sources, Kumuda had gone to graze goats when he was attacked and killed by an elephant. His death sparked tension at the locality with villagers demanding compensation for the deceased’s family.
Besides, villagers demanded the district administration to come up with measures to curb elephant menace in the village.
Upon being informed, Forest Department officials and police reached the spot and pacified the agitating villagers.
