Bhubaneswar: A person was trampled to death by a rogue elephant at Nuagaon village under Hindol block in Dhenkanal district, on Monday night.
The deceased person has been identified as Sansar Gananayak, a resident of Nuagaon village.
According to reports, Sansar was asleep when he was attacked by the elephant and trampled to death. On Tuesday morning, locals found him dead and informed Forest Department officials.
Meanwhile, forest officials reached the scene to assess the damage and provide compensation to the family.
This incident has raised concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the area, with locals demanding action from the forest department to capture and relocate the aggressive elephant.
Notably, elephant attacks have claimed six lives in the region in the last one month, sparking widespread fear and anxiety among residents.
