Bhubaneswar: Eminent writer Sarojini Sahoo was selected to receive the prestigious ‘Sarala Puraskar’ for her novel ‘Astira Pada’.
The award will be presented on October 26 at a special event. The winner will receive a plaque and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
The Sarala Puraskar instituted by eminent Odia industrialist Late Bansidhar Panda and Late Ila Panda in the year 1979, has been continuously awarded by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT). The Charitable Trust (IMPaCT) of IMFA for outstanding literary achievement.
Sahoo’s novel was chosen from a competitive field that included works by Aparna Mohanty (Agni Kamalini), Ashutosh Parida (Aprastuta Mrutyu), Dash Benhur (Abadharita O Anyanya Galpa), Bijay Kumar Satpathi (Kankana Dasi Katha), Biyot Projna Tripathy (Maya), and Padmaj Paul (Sita Mun Sita).
Similarly, sculpture artist Sudarshan Sahoo and renowned singer Tansen Singh will receive the ‘Ila-Bansidhar Panda Kala Samman’ which was awarded annually by IMPaCT for lifetime excellence in arts. Each recipient will receive a certificate, a plaque, and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
