Group Clash In Ganjam

Bhubaneswar:  A 22-year-old engineering student, Tapan Acharya, tragically ended his life by allegedly jumping in front of a moving train near Lingaraj Station in Bhubaneswar today.

Tapan, son of Ajay Acharya, was a resident of Botanda Mahaveer Nagar in the city and was pursuing his studies at a private engineering college in the capital.

Tapan’s father, Ajay Acharya, alleged that the college authorities subjected his son to “mental torture,” which may have driven him to take this extreme step.

According to Ajay, the college confiscated Tapan’s mobile phone around 11 AM on Tuesday, preventing him from communicating with his family. The authorities had also summoned Ajay to the college for a discussion scheduled for May 1. He claimed that the seizure of the phone and the alleged harassment by the college contributed to his son’s distress.
