**Bhubaneswar:** Mystery shrouds the death of an electrical engineer of ARSS group of companies who was engaged at a project site in Balabhadrapur of Kendrapara district.
The deceased identified as Prakash Chandra Behera breathed his last at a private hospital in Cuttack city today after which his family members brought his body to Capital hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Prakash’s family members alleged the company is hiding the facts about his death. His brother Tapas Kumar Behera said, though the company authorities claim he was run over by a JCB, IIC of Derabis police station after investigation said it was a Hywa that killed Prakash.
“We received a call at around 9 pm yesterday that my brother has met with an accident. They first took him to Kendrapara hospital for primary treatment and despite being referred to SCB in Cuttack, they admitted him to a private hospital in Cuttack city where we found him dead,” said Tapas.
He further alleged that prior to their arrival to the hospital, the company authorities were hiding the facts about Prakash’s condition and later abandoned them along with the dead body. He demanded a proper probe should be conducted to find out the truth about the incident and the person who killed Prakash should be arrested.
On the other hand, Project Manager of the site, Subendhu Kumar Dandpani claimed it to be an accident. He said that he was working at another site when he received a call about Prakash meeting a severe accident and being rushed to Kendrapara hospital.
After arriving at Kendrapara hospital, onlookers said that Prakash had parked his Bolero on a ramp on the project site and got down from the vehicle to attend nature’s call. Unaware of his presence a JCB came down the ramp and applied sudden brakes after spotting him. However, as the area had been dampened due to rain, the vehicle slipped for a certain extent as a result of which Prakash came under it and sustained severe injuries.
“He was alive while being admitted to Kendrapara hospital and himself demanded of being shifted to Bhubaneswar in an AC ambulance. When we asked the Kendrapara hospital authorities for a 108 ambulance, they told that it will take at least one hour to arrange it. We immediately arranged for a private ambulance and brought him to Cuttack,” said Dandpani.
