**Bhubaneswar: ** In a case of reckless driving, an engineer named Pulak Debanath ran over three vending carts of capital city at around 8:30 a.m at Kharavela Nagar in the capital city here.
Four vendors were injured, out of which one was critical. He has been referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
“I was deep frying ‘baras’ when all of a sudden a car came and hit my cart. The hot oil was spilled over my hands. All the other materials were strewn all over the road. It hit other carts also. One of the vendors got seriously injured and is now in Cuttack hospital,” said Badri Charan Mekap, a street vendor.
The accused is a Data Entry engineer at RBI Treasury Office. He was driving recklessly when he hit on the vending carts at the side of the road. The eatables and the raw materials were strewn all over, the vendors standing around got hurt, the car was badly mutilated but the driver was unhurt.
The Kharavela Police has detained the accused and is interrogating him. According to sources, he was a learner in driving.
