Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday ordered the state Culture department that the entry fee of any museum in the state should not be more than Rs 10.
“Odisha is the land of art. Our art and culture have created a unique identity of Odisha all over the world. Museums have played an important role in preserving and promoting this great heritage of ours,” the Chief Minister directed the department, adding, “The entry fee of any museum in the state should not be more than Rs 10.”
Apart from this, the Chief Minister ordered that no fee will be charged for entry to the museums in the state for students, artisans and weavers. He has also directed to take steps to make the museums in Odisha more popular so that tourists can get a chance to visit them.
It is worth mentioning here that Bhubaneswar houses the State Museum, and the Tribal Culture and Research Museum, while the Maritime Museum is located in Cuttack. The Chief Minister’s directive will help to popularise these museums and attract visitors.
