Cuttack: A brutal killing which took place in the house of the erstwhile royal family of Kanika, shook the city on Wednesday. In the gruesome incident, Paresh Kumari Devi, the grandson’s wife of ‘Raja’ Rajendra Narayan Bhanjadeo of Kanika, was allegedly killed by her son Subhendra Narayan Bhanjadeo at their home in Srivihar Colony here.
DCP Prateek Singh said, the accused’s mother was controlling all monetary and landed property transactions of their family. He was not allowed to get involved in these transaction because of which the accused nursed a grudge. The woman stayed with her daughter on the top floor while the accused stayed in a separate floor.
“Besides, Subhendra had three bad marriages and used to blame his mother for all problems he had had so far. He used to be under mental duress due to such circumstances. The mother-son duo used to have quarrels regularly over property matters,” Singh added.
While Subhendra first wife had died, his second wife lives in Delhi after divorce, said sources. Prima facie it does not appear to be a pre-planned murder, however, the investigation in this case in on, the police further stated.
