Balasore: The Additional Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication, Akhil Kumar Mishra, visited Fakir Mohan University today and delivered an insightful address to students of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Speaking on the theme “From Policy to Public: The Power of Everyday Communication in Building Viksit Bharat”, Mishra highlighted the critical role of media and communication in nation-building. He stressed that media must act as a responsible partner in India’s development journey. Effective communication — marked by clarity, coherence, and meaningful expression — is essential to bridge the gap between government policies and citizens, he said.
Mishra added that everyday communication plays a powerful role in realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. Prof. Bharatibala Pattanaik, Professor and Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, welcomed the guest and underlined that communication is a vital tool for raising awareness and driving behavioural change. She encouraged students to contribute actively towards the national vision of Viksit Bharat through ethical and impactful storytelling.
During the visit, Mishra held a courtesy meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy. The interactive session was also attended by faculty members including Dr. Smti Padhi, Dr. Ashes Kumar Nayak, Moti Pankgam, and Dhirendra Behera, along with students from the Departments of Social Work, Sociology, and Social Science.
The programme concluded with a lively question-and-answer session. Mishra appreciated the students’ thoughtful questions and articulate responses, praising their enthusiasm and depth of understanding.
