Bhubaneswar: Polling for the last and fourth phase Assembly and Parliamentary elections in Odisha was disrupted due to malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at several places in the State.
The voting machine at booth No 254 at Basantpur, Booth No 121, 122 at Balipada and Booth No 106 at Belapala in Kendrapara district developed technical glitches.
Similarly, voting process was hit at booth No 234 in Salipur, booth no 171 at Nimidhi in Jagatsinghpur, and booth no 142 in Bhandaripokhari of Bhadrak.
The EVMs at two booths in Rajnagar, some others in Mahakalapada of Kendrapara also allegedly malfunctioned.
EVM error has been reported at Booth No 153 in Balasore Sadar, booth No. 26 in Basta in Balasore.
Over 31 EVMs developed technical errors in Jasipur sector of Mayurbhanj district.
Six Lok Sabha constituencies-Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore and Mayurbhanj and 42 Assembly segments under them went to poll.
In the last phase, over 99.61lakh voter will exercise their right to vote. Among them there are 50 lakh 88 thousand 076 are men, 48 lakh 72 thousand 294 are women and 687 third gender voters. 66 candidates are in the fray for 6 Lok Sabha seats while 394 candidates are fighting for 42 assembly seats.
A total of 10 thousand 882 booths have been set up in this phase. Out of them, only 14,000 booths are operated by women. Similarly, 21% booths are identified as sensitive booths
