Cuttack: In a big relief to absconding BJP MLA candidate Om Prakash Mishra of Puri district’s Satyabadi assembly constituency, Orissa High Court has granted anticipatory bail to him in connection with the alleged vandalisation of EVM at a booth in Puri during the Phase-III polls.

After going into hiding soon after a case was lodged against Om Prakash, the Puri district police had slapped a lookout notice against him. However, he surfaced on social media the very next day (April 26) and was heard defending himself to be innocent.

Notably, Om Prakash Mishra is the prime accused for allegedly attacking a Presiding Officer and damaging EVM machines as well as threatening and intimidating the polling officials during the Phase-III (April 23) election in Odisha.

The incident had taken place at Booth No 78 of Birakesarpur in Satyabadi assembly constituency under Puri Lok Sabha seat in which two accomplices of Om Prakash have already been arrested while he went absconding.
