Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur on Saturday sentenced a former Area Manager of MARKFED, Jagannathpur, Ganjam Bhubana Mohan Dash (dismissed from service) to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs 10,000 after convicting him for misappropriation of government money by manipulating the cash book and voucher of his office.
The court ordered that in default of payment of the fine Dash has to undergo three months of rigorous imprisonment more for the offence under section 13(1)(c) read with 13(2) of PC Act, 1988.
The court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years each and to pay a fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of the fine to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two months each for the offence under section 468/471/477A of IPC.
All the sentences are to run concurrently, the court said.
Dash was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988/468/471/477-A/420/409 IPC, for misappropriation of government money by manipulating the cash book and voucher of his office, thereby committing fraud in the original money receipt issued by Tahasil Office, Chhatrapur, Ganjam in connection with conversion of agricultural land owned by MARKFED, Jagannathpur for non-agricultural purpose.
