Bhubaneswar: A Special Court in Bhubaneswar today convicted a retired Assistant Director of Women & Child Development (WCD) Department Surendranath Pati in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The Court sentenced Pati to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of two years and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 20,000.
In default of payment of the fine amount, the Court ordered Pati to undergo RI for a further period of three months.
The Vigilance had registered a case against Pati in 1995 for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 9,28,500 to his known sources of income under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
