Koraput: The police here have arrested one Shekhar Kuldip, an ex-messenger of a nationalised bank here was arrested by the police on charges of looting gold ornaments from the bank locker.
The ex-employee was dismissed from service over irregularities and had apparently hatched a planned to loot ornaments from the bank. According to the police, Kuldip entered into the bank posing as a customer and managed to hide on the premises overnight.
Later, during the morning, when the bank was opened by its staff, Kuldip managed to flee with the looted ornaments. However, how he managed to get hold of the locker keys is being probed, the police said and suspects involvement of an internal resource.
Kuldip, a resident of Bikrampur village under Narayanpatna police limits was arrested and forwarded to the court. The police have seized gold ornaments worth several lakh rupees from his house.
The siren and safety alarms also did now blow which remains a big question as to how, Kuldip managed to stay in the bank bathroom overnight and loot the lockers, The matter is being thoroughly investigated, said Varun Guntupalli.
