Ex-Gratia Of Rs 15 Lakh Each Provided To Families Of 45 Scribes Who Died Of Covid-19

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has provided ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh each to the family of 45 journalists who died of Covid-19.

This was revealed in the data shared by Information & Public Relations Minister Pradip Kumar Amat in reply to a question by BJD Member Padmini Dian in the Odisha Assembly today.

Amat told the House that as on date fund amounting to Rs 22,50,64,345 is available with the Journalists Welfare Fund.

The Minister informed that as of now no decision has been taken on provision of pensions to journalists.

He further added that as of now the government has no proposal for constituting Press Club for journalists in each block.
