Bhubaneswar: The former Godown In-Charge of Dehunda Additional Storage Point, MARKFED, Balasore, who retired from service, was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment by a special vigilance court in Balasore in a corruption case.
The convict, Bijay Kumar Mallik was charge-sheeted under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and 409 IPC for misappropriating government funds related to fertilizer pilferage at the storage point.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Mallik. Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now initiate proceedings to stop Mallik’s pension.
