Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader, as well as former minister of Odisha Sk Matlub Ali, is no more. He died of Covid today morning.
As per the State Congress sources, he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital here after being infected with the killer virus.
Following his sad demise, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik has expressed deep condolences.
Sk Matlub Ali was a four-time Congress MLA (1974, 1980, 1985, and 1995) and was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from his home turf Mahanga constituency of the then undivided Cuttack district. Mahanga assembly segment is at present under Kendrapada parliamentary constituency.
Born on 16.12.1942 at Dharoshyam Sundarpur of Mahanga in Cuttack district, he was a famous Odia writer as well an orator and social activist.
During his college life, he used to edit `Urmi` magazine for West Hostel of Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. He had published short story collection – “Mousumi” in 1965 “Ganakabi Smaranika” in 1966 “Jagamohan Lala Smaranika” in 1967 “Pyarimohan Lala Smaranika” in 1975, as per his biography available on the website.
