Bhubaneswar: Ex-Revenue Inspector (RI) of Mahalei Revenue Circle has been dismissed from government service as per the provision of OCS(CCA) Rules,1962 after his conviction in a corruption case by the Vigilance court.
Earlier, the Vigilance sleuths arrested Satyanarayan Kumura, former revenue inspector of Mahalei revenue circle under Deogaon block of the district for accepting bribe from a complainant for submitting an enquiry report in respect of the genealogy report of the land of his relative.
After hearing the case, Special Judge of Vigilance, Bolangir in March 2024 convicted Kumura and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 4 years and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. In default of payment of fine, he has to undergo further RI for 3 months.
The Court also sentenced him to RI for 3 years and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 for the offence under Section 7 of PC Act, 1988. In default of payment of fine, he will undergo further RI for 2 months and both sentences will run concurrently, the court had ruled.
Odisha Vigilance also moved the competent authority for the dismissal of Kumura from service.
