Bhubaneswar: The former Superintendent of Paljhar Farm in Boudh and former junior clerk were convicted by a vigilance court in Phulbani for misappropriation of GPF loan deduction amounts of 14 employees of Paljhar Farm during the period from 2001 to 2003 by manipulating and tampering with official records.
Ex-superintendent Narendra Kumar Dalai and junior clerk Sudhir Kumar Rout were charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Berhampur Vigilance PS Case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of PC Act, 1988/409/468/ 471/477(A)/120(B) IPC.
The court sentenced both the convicts to four years of rigorous imprisonment and directed them to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 each. In default of payment of fine, they have to to undergo rigorous imprisonment for more six months each for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of PC Act, 1988.
The court further sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment for four years each and to pay a fine of Rs.10, 000. In default of payment, they would undergo six months of rigorous imprisonment each more for the offence U/s 409 IPC. The court also sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for four years each and directed them to pay fine of Rs.10,000. In default of payment of fine, they have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for six months more for the offence U/s 120-B IPC.
All the sentences against both convicts are to run concurrently.
The convicts, Narendra Kumar Dalai and Sudhir Kumar Rout were sent to jail custody to serve their sentence.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Rout, senior clerk at the office of Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO), Boudh from service following his conviction.
