Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Excise, Balugaon Circle Sudipta Kumar Dash for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 173% of his known sources of income which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Dash was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar following his arrest, according to an official press release.
During house searches of Dash Vigilance officials unearthed two double-storied buildings at Nayagarh town and six plots in and around Nayagarh town; Rs 1,35,520 in cash; Bank, Postal and Insurance deposits of Rs 21,32,700; gold jewellery weighing approximately 300 gm; one SUV; three two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 20.39 lakh.
After a thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, Vigilance officials calculated the income, expenditure and assets of Dash and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 173% in excess of his known sources of income.
Further investigation of the case is in progress, the release added.
