Balasore: A constable of Excise Intelligence & Enforcement Bureau, Unit-II Cuttack was injured after being attacked by liquor mafia at Turigadia under Khaira police limits of Balasore district on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Basant Mallick had nabbed an accused and seized the latter’s scooter near Mahatipur. He was returning with the accused on the scooter when they were intercepted by six persons at Turigadia.
They attacked Mallick with plastic pipes and freed the accused and the scooter. He was later admitted to Khaira Community Health Centre (CHC) from where he was referred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Balasore.
A complaint in this regard has been lodged at Khaira Police Station.
