Bhubaneswar: The Excise Department registered 166 cases and seized contraband worth Rs 1.22 crore on the fourteenth day of its ongoing Special Enforcement Drive, which commenced on December 20.
According to official data, 89 persons were arrested during the day’s enforcement operations, including in seven cases booked under the NDPS Act. Eight vehicles were seized in connection with the violations.
The seizures included 5,632 bulk litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 283 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor. Other recoveries comprised 44,005 bulk litres of fermented wash, 11,250 kg of gur wash, and 10 kg of Bhanga. Narcotics seized during the operations included 755 grams of brown sugar.
