Berhampur: Excise department officials seized 70 kg of ganja from a pick-up van and an escorting car during a vehicle check near Aska in Ganjam district on Thursday.
Four persons have been arrested in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Santosh Palai, Titu Palai, and Sunil Swain from Nabaratnapur in Aska, and Ashok Sahu from Polasara.
Officials also confiscated six mobile phones from their possession.
According to excise department sources, the contraband was procured from the Daringibadi area in neighbouring Kandhamal district and was intended to be transported to Mumbai via Purushottampur, either by train or car.
