Bhubaneswar: The Flying Squad of the Excise Department, EI & EB Unit-1, Cuttack, has arrested one person for possession of heroin (brown sugar) in Bhubaneswar. The accused, Sunil Das (28), a resident of Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar, was arrested on Friday, with 107 grams of heroin.
The seizure was made by a team led by S.K. Sakir, Sub-Inspector of Excise, and included Amit Kumar Biswal, Karnna Oram, A.R. Mallik, Gouranga Nayak, Chandrakant Sahoo, Pabitra Kumar Dash, Padmini Naik, and Annapurna Gand.
The accused has been booked under the NDPS Act, 1985, and has been sent to judicial custody. The seized heroin is valued at approximately Rs 10.7 lakh.
The Excise Department’s action is part of its ongoing efforts to curb drug peddling in the state.
