Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths today arrested Excise Inspector Sanjaya Kumar Panda of Puri Mobile Excise Squad for demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 18,000 from a person to submit Case Diary in a PR case.
According to an official press release, following a complaint against Panda seeking bribe, Vigilance officials laid a trap.
Panda was caught in the trap laid by the anti-graft agency and the entire bribe money of Rs 18,000 was recovered from his possession and seized.
Following his apprehension, the Vigilance has launched simultaneous searches at two locations connected with Panda to unearth disproportionate assets possessed by him if any.
The Vigilance has registered a case against the accused under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act, 2018 while further investigation against him is under progress.
