Koraput: Excise Inspector Durbadal Biswal and Constable Meghanad Sabar sustained serious injuries after being attacked by Ganja traders during a raid in Ghodaghat area under Kotapad police limits here last night.

The sleuths had conducted a raid late on Saturday night and apprehended three SUVs being used for smuggling ganja to Chhattisgarh. However, the anti-socials launched an attack on the Excise team with sharp weapons.

They fled from the spot after the attack while Biswal and Sabar were rushed to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. According to reports, the ganja traders belonged to a neighbouring state and were smuggling ganja from Koraput.
