Bhubaneswar: Excise officials arrested Biplab Nayak, a resident of Nimapara, at Trinath Temple in Patpur village, Puri district, on Wednesday afternoon. The officials seized 80 grams of brown sugar valued at over Rs 8 lakh from his possession.
Acting on instructions from Excise Superintendent Jagdish Chandra Samal, a team led by Officer-in-Charge of Nimapara Excise Police Station Narayan Behera conducted the operation and apprehended Nayak.
A case has been registered against him at Nimapara Excise Police Station, and he has been forwarded to court. Due to his bail being rejected, Nayak has been sent to Nimapara Excise Jail.
The successful operation was carried out by a team of excise officials, including ASI Santosh Kumar Maharana, Tapan Pradhan, Sheikh Waris, and Savita Sahu, who played key roles in the investigation.
