Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids on the houses and property associated with Jagannath Sethy, Executive Engineer, Rural Works (Electrical) Division, Berhampur, on the allegation of acquisition of disproportionate assets.
Separate teams of the anti-corruption agency led by one Additional SP, four DSPs, 10 Inspectors, and other staff, on the strength of Search Warrants issued by Special Judge Vigilance, Berhampur, conducted searches at the following five places in Khordha and Ganjam district.
1. Residential Four-storeyed building located at Gajapati Nagar, 8th Lane, Berhampur.
2. Five-storeyed building located at Gajapati Nagar, 11th lane Extension, Berhampur.
3. Four-storeyed building at AIIMS Nagar 3rd lane, Bhubaneswar.
4. Office of Sethy at Ambapua, Berhampur.
5. House at his native village Puttabagada, Chhatrapur, Ganjam.
During the raid, Sethy at Berhampur and his son at Bhubaneswar locked themselves inside the houses, obstructed the Vigilance team, and showed non-co-operation even after being told about the search warrants.
As a result, the Vigilance team was forced to enter inside the premises after breaking open the entrance doors. In this connection, appropriate legal action will be taken against them for obstruction in the lawful discharge of duties.
During the search, approximately Rs 16.7 lakh cash was recovered from Sethy’s Berhampur residence. He had hidden the money under the bedroom mattress.
