Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today apprehended an Executive Engineer (EE) of Irrigation and a junior clerk of the same office for accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a person to clear his pending bills towards hire charges of his vehicle for use by the office in Ganjm district.
Executive Engineer Benudhar Dalai and clerk Kailash Behera of CAD Division No. -8 at Aska in Ganjam demanded a bribe from the complainant.
The EE had demanded the bribe from the complainant. As per the demand, the complainant handed over the bribe amount to Behera in the presence of Dalai.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Behera and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of the EE and two locations of Behera from DA angle.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance registered a case under sections-7PC Amendment Act, 2018 against both the accused persons. Investigation is underway.
