Explosion At Rourkela Steel Plant Leaves Five Injured

Rourkela:  In a major accident at Rourkela Steel Plant, as many as five employees including an official were injured due to an explosion at the SMS-1 unit, on Saturday.

The workers reportedly sustained severe burns from hot molten steel.  Apart from the officer, the injured include two permanent employees and a contractual worker.

All the injured are meanwhile undergoing treatment at Ispat General Hospital.

According to sources, the accident occurred around 9:00 am in the morning. All the injured were immediately admitted to Ispat General Hospital for treatment.

However, the plant authorities have not issued any statement regarding the cause and circumstances that led to the explosion.
