Fake Placement At SOA University: Students’ Stir Enters 2nd Day

**Bhubaneswar: ** Agitating over a fake campus recruitment row, the irate students of Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) under Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University here continued with their stir for the second consecutive day.

As the students on strike have shut the main gate of the campus, academic activities have reportedly got disrupted for the second consecutive day.

Meanwhile, a case has reportedly been registered on Wednesday night with the Khandagiri Police Station here following a complaint filed by the SOA University Registrar against the consultancy firm.

As per latest reports, the varsity authorities on Thursday came up with a deadline asking the agitating students to clarify their stand on the varsity offers by May 31.

The authorities have asked all the striking students for their confirmation on the varsity’s offers either to pursue M.Tech/MBA course free of cost or join as teaching assistant with a stipend of Rs 20,000.

However, the students reportedly rejected the proposals.

As per reports, around 50 students were selected by Gurgaon-based Huawei during a recruitment drive in the university, but astoundingly found their offer letters fake and returned without getting jobs. The company officials told them that it has not conducted any recruitment drive in the university. Not only Huawei, as many as 400 students were also given offer letters from companies like Mitsubishi, Intel and Honeywell that are allegedly fake.

Meanwhile, the placement officer of SOA University has resigned on moral ground.

University authorities said not only the students, but also the college fell victim to a conspiracy.
