Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Sunday busted a fake recruitment racket, and arrested six members of the gang, including a woman, on charges of duping job aspirants of Rs 53 lakh in Cuttack. The police also seized gold jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh, one car, four motorcycles, fake job offer letters, and six mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
While one of the accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Nayak, the identity of the others is yet to be ascertained. The accused Sanjay is a resident of the Ladamba area of Cuttack district.
According to reports, Sanjay was the leader of the fake job recruitment gang that was duping money from aspirants by portraying themselves as OTPC officers. In fact, the Darghabazar police received several complaints from aspirants who were duped by the fake recruiters.
“The gang cheated many youths in various districts of the state and a probe is underway to nab the other two members of the gang who are on the run”, informed Additional DCP Anil Mishra.
