Bhubaneswar: The Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Department today directed registered medical practitioners for proper verification while issuing medical certificate for Covid-19 vaccination of co-morbid persons.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Health & Family Welfare P K Mohapatra in a letter marked to all District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, Directors under H&FW Department, Superintendents of Government Medical College & Hospitals and Chief District Medical Officers & Public Health Officers said that instruction may be issued to all concerned to remain vigilant against any misuse of the provisions by issue of false medical certificates.
The letter says that while issuing the medical certificates the medical practitioners have to strictly follow Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) guidelines.
The ACS Health & Family Welfare has warned,”Any detection of false medical certificate will entail action against the concerned Registered Medical Practitioner as well as the person producing such false medical certificate in support of the specified co-morbidities”.
It is pertinent to mention here that Covid-19 vaccination programme for age-appropriate groups has been rolled out from March 1, which includes citizens aged 60 years and above and those aged 45 years to 59 years with specified co-morbidities prescribe3d by MoHFW subject to certification to that effect by a Registered Medical Practitioner.
